South Wales Branch - AGM 2010 |

The South Wales branch of NADJ held its AGM on Tuesday 9th March 2010 at the University of Wales Campus at Caerleon and it was a successful night. The business of the Annual General Meeting was conducted swiftly before we moved on to other matters of interest. The new Committee for 2010 is as follows: - Branch Chairman- Justin Banwell (Black Panther Discos)
- Branch Vice Chairman- Paul Thompson (Juke Box Jury)
- Branch Secretary- Mark Weller (Ocsid)
- Branch Treasurer- Brian Jones (Animal House)

The democratic aspect of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting of the National Association of Disc Jockeys is now underway. The nomination papers have been posted out to all full NADJ members. These documents are also available on the main NADJ website (www.nadj.org.uk) in the ‘Members’ section of the site. Visitors to the site must be logged in to see the ‘Members’ section on the left side of the web page. All full NADJ members are encouraged to nominate candidates for the elected positions of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Please note that the conditions of NADJ membership include up-to-date subscriptions, PAT test documents and proof of PLI. Nominations can only be made by full members of the Association and membership status will be verified before a nomination will be brought forward. |

Public Liability Insurance |

There have been some suggestions on the online forums that DJs can get the specially negotiated £10m PLI policy that NADJ members get access to, for a much cheaper price. These comments have been highlighted with the insurance company that the NADJ deals with and they have categorically stated that they will not offer the policy that NADJ members can purchase to anyone else. The policy NADJ members get access to is not currently being offered to non-NADJ members and any DJ going direct to our broker will be offered a different policy that is considerably more than the £84 per year that NADJ members pay. Please rest assured that it has taken a lot of negotiating to get the £10m PLI policy at such a good price and the NADJ will be asking for proof from people claiming to get the PLI policy through our brokers at a cheaper price. |

For the past 10 months the NADJ has had to go though a serious period of consolidation. This may look like little has been going on behind the scenes, but this has definitely not been the case. Whoever is elected at the AGM will certainly have a firm foundation to build a better organisation. The NADJ needs more members to get a louder and more prominent voice within the industry. The NADJ can only achieve that with the help of you – the membership. |

The NADJ is working to educate DJs on how to improve their business and marketing skills. Paul Arnett, NADJ Branch Development Officer, conducted a presentation on what DJs should do at a Wedding Fayre. The seminar took place at the Yorkshire Branch Meeting on Wednesday 24th February 2010 and news of the seminar resulted in requests for it to be made available online - so here it is! |
