| The Future of The NADJ |
|
For the past 10 months the NADJ has had to go though a serious period of consolidation. This may look like little has been going on behind the scenes, but this has definitely not been the case. Whoever is elected at the AGM will certainly have a firm foundation to build a better organisation. The NADJ needs more members to get a louder and more prominent voice within the industry. The NADJ can only achieve that with the help of you – the membership. The Committee cannot achieve this goal alone and the virtues of the organisation must be spread by all members. There will always be the ‘what’s in it for me’ brigade and we must highlight the benefits of being a part of a national organisation. Some DJs are quite happy doing what they have been doing for years and see no need to be a part of any organisation. However, those DJs with a more open mind need to be shown what the individual members have gained from being a part of the NADJ. Paul Arnett will be playing a major part in trying to give advice to NADJ members who want to set up a branch in their area. A package of information is being compiled and this will be available in the near future. In the mean time the NADJ Committee can offer advice to any member wanting to promote the organisation. For the current membership, the NADJ is working harder to keep in touch and update you on events within the Association and the industry. This includes more frequent e-mail updates, a dedicated website for the AGM & Tradeshow (www.nadjtradeshow.com) and constant improvements to the main website (www.nadj.org.uk). Promotion of the AGM & Tradeshow is a high priority and the effort put into that should be reflected in the number of attendees. Pre-registration is going very well and members are reminded that they will receive a free CD from CD Pool if they register an interest before the event. Steve Sansom, NADJ Treasurer, has been working very hard to promote the AGM & Tradeshow in the media. Several interviews have already taken place and some articles have already been published. Others are being lined up for use closer to the date of the event. Darren Tipples, Benefits Officer, is exploring several avenues to get discounts and offers that will appeal to a wide selection of members, but your suggestions are always welcome. Justin Banwell, Merchandising Officer, has been exploring several NADJ-branded clothing options and these may be on show at the AGM for the first time.
