Description
The UK’s professional association for DJs
NADJ Membership
Professional recognition, practical support and a stronger collective voice for working DJs.
Membership starts at £48 a year or £4 a month. Professional and Gold include £10m Public Liability and £10m Employers’ Liability cover.
Insurance included with Professional and Gold
Professional and Gold members receive the same scheme liability cover, arranged by Sharrock Insurance Services Limited and underwritten by Accelerant Insurance UK Limited.
- £10,000,000 Public Liability Insurance
- £10,000,000 Employers’ Liability Insurance
- Products Liability Insurance
- Photobooth operation covered as standard
The insured activities include DJ, karaoke, VJ and Master of Ceremonies work; photobooth operation; teaching DJ skills; and dry hire of audio-visual equipment, light-up letters, portable dance floors and related accessories.
Standard membership does not include any NADJ insurance products. It is intended for DJs who already arrange their own insurance elsewhere but still wish to support NADJ, access core member benefits and remain part of the professional association.
Important exclusions and limits: Professional Indemnity is not included. Promoter or event organiser activity is excluded. A £250 excess applies to all insured sections. Members must normally reside in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. Contact NADJ before relying on cover for work elsewhere.

- Current master policy period: 28 January 2026 to 27 January 2027.

Who is eligible and how long cover lasts
Only insured Professional and Gold members normally resident in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man are entitled to indemnity. A Professional or Gold membership beginning or renewing during the master policy period can remain insured until that individual membership expires, provided the member remains eligible and the membership lasts no more than 12 months.
Standard membership does not include cover under the NADJ insurance scheme.
Business activities covered
The Confirmation of Cover lists work as a Disc Jockey, karaoke host, VJ or Master of Ceremonies; dry hire of audio-visual equipment, including light-up letters, portable dance floors and related equipment and accessories; and teaching DJ skills. NADJ also holds separate broker confirmation for photobooth operation, although members should check with Sharrocks where their work extends beyond the activities described here.
Public Liability
Public Liability covers legal liability for accidental bodily injury to another person, accidental damage to third-party property, obstruction, trespass, nuisance or interference with rights of way, air, light, water or other easements, and wrongful arrest, detention, false imprisonment or malicious prosecution arising from the insured business.
- Limit: £10,000,000 for any one event, as confirmed by Sharrocks. Terrorism liability is limited to £5,000,000 or the policy limit, whichever is lower.
- Legal costs: covered costs and expenses are normally payable in addition to the applicable limit unless the policy or an endorsement says otherwise.
- Useful extensions: certain rented premises liabilities, loading and unloading vehicles, temporary work in the European Union, sudden pollution or contamination, defence costs, court attendance, Health and Safety prosecutions and Corporate Manslaughter defence costs, all subject to their own conditions and limits.
Employers’ Liability
Employers’ Liability covers legal liability for damages following bodily injury to an employee arising from and during their employment in connection with the insured business.
- Limit: £10,000,000 for any one event.
- Asbestos or terrorism: the limit reduces to £5,000,000.
- Certificate: the certificate confirms that the cover satisfies the relevant compulsory insurance law across Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
- Temporary EU work: bodily injury to an employee may be covered while temporarily working in an EU country, provided the employee is ordinarily resident within the normal territorial limits. Workers’ Compensation, Social Security and Health Insurance liabilities are excluded.
Products Liability
Products Liability covers legal liability for accidental bodily injury or third-party property damage caused by a product supplied in the course of the insured business. Cover applies worldwide, subject to the policy restrictions and endorsements.
- The policy limit applies in total across all Products Liability events during the policy period, rather than separately to every claim.
- For claims occurring in, or brought under the laws of, the USA or Canada, covered legal costs form part of the limit rather than being paid in addition.
- The cost of recalling, repairing, replacing, altering or refunding a defective product itself is not covered.
- There is no cover for a product simply failing to perform its intended function, fee-paid advice or design, professional services, or products knowingly supplied for aviation, aerospace, marine navigation, the USA or Canada.
Territorial position
The policy wording defines the normal territorial limits as Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, excluding offshore activity. Public and Employers’ Liability contain extensions for temporary work in European Union countries. Members should obtain confirmation from Sharrocks before accepting work outside the normal territory, as local law and the precise nature of the work can affect cover.
Main exclusions and limitations
- Acting as the promoter or organiser of an event is excluded by endorsement.
- Professional Indemnity is not included. Fee-paid advice, design, plans, specifications and professional services are not covered under Products Liability.
- Public Liability does not cover injury to employees; that falls under Employers’ Liability.
- Property belonging to the member, or generally held in their custody or control, is not covered by Public Liability. This policy is therefore not equipment insurance.
- Liability requiring compulsory motor insurance, most aircraft, hovercraft and watercraft risks, and offshore activity are excluded.
- Contractual liabilities beyond those that would otherwise exist in law, liquidated damages and penalty clauses are generally excluded.
- Cyber and electronic-data losses, nuclear and radioactive risks, PFAS-related liability, sanctions and specified communicable disease losses are subject to broad policy exclusions. The communicable disease exclusion does not apply to Employers’ Liability.
- A £250 excess applies to all insured sections under the NADJ scheme confirmation.
If something happens or a claim may be made
- Notify Sharrocks in writing as soon as reasonably practicable, giving full details of any incident or circumstance that may result in a claim.
- Forward every letter of claim, claim form, summons or other legal document immediately and unanswered.
- Do not admit liability, make an offer, promise payment or agree an indemnity without the insurer’s written consent.
- Co-operate with the insurer, provide the information requested and take reasonable steps to prevent further loss or injury.
Important: this is a detailed plain-English summary, not a replacement for the policy schedule, endorsements, certificate or 96-page Pardus Commercial Combined Policy Wording. If there is any difference, the formal insurance documents govern. Members should ask Sharrocks to confirm cover where an activity is unusual, higher risk or not expressly listed.

Membership that can deliver more
NADJ is an industry association, not simply a route to low-cost insurance. Membership fees also fund the systems, administration and people needed to provide verification, representation, resources, development opportunities and dependable member services.
Standard provides an affordable membership option for DJs who already arrange their own insurance. Professional adds the NADJ liability insurance scheme, while Gold provides the strongest level of visibility, promotion and commercial value.
This means DJs who already have suitable insurance elsewhere do not need to purchase another insurance product simply to support NADJ and remain part of the association.
Standard is £4 a month, Professional £8.25 a month and Gold £12.50 a month — three clear levels of membership depending on the support, insurance and commercial benefits you need.
Training and CPD
NADJ is developing practical training for working DJs, including first aid, PAT testing, technical training, workshops, masterclasses and industry experiences.
Courses are charged separately because trainer, venue, material and certification costs still apply. Gold members receive 20% off applicable NADJ CIC training. Where grant funding is available, subsidised places will be clearly identified when booking.
Equipment insurance
The liability insurance included with Professional and Gold covers your liability to other people; it does not insure your own equipment against theft, loss or damage.
Members can request a separate scheme-rate quotation from Sharrocks. An indicative cost is around £100 a year for £10,000 of cover, subject to equipment value, storage and claims history. Contact Sharrocks directly to confirm current pricing.
Membership levels
NADJ offers three membership levels: Standard, Professional and Gold.
Standard membership is a £48-per-year or £4-per-month membership-only option for DJs who arrange their own insurance but still wish to support NADJ and access core member benefits.
Professional membership is £99 per year or £8.25 per month and includes NADJ scheme liability insurance alongside the core membership benefits.
Gold membership is £150 per year or £12.50 per month and includes the same insurance protection as Professional while adding NADJ’s strongest directory visibility, priority promotion and commercial discounts.
Important: Standard membership does not include Public Liability, Employers’ Liability, Products Liability or any other NADJ insurance product. Standard members are responsible for arranging any insurance they require independently.
Membership, payments and support
Membership is annual. Standard costs £48 per year, Professional £99 per year and Gold £150 per year. All three membership levels can be paid annually or in twelve monthly instalments. Monthly payments spread the same annual cost; they are not a rolling month-to-month subscription, and the annual balance remains payable.
Renewal, cancellation and missed payments
Membership normally renews automatically to avoid a break in services and, for Professional and Gold members, insurance. To prevent renewal, cancel through the membership system; cancelling a Direct Debit or card instruction alone does not notify NADJ.
Members who contact NADJ within 14 days after renewal will normally have their circumstances considered, particularly where benefits have not been substantially used. If an instalment is missed, membership may be suspended after NADJ has contacted you. For insured Professional and Gold members, insurance may also be suspended or cease when membership lapses.
Member support
Included support: membership includes access to the member portal, chatbot, help articles and basic account-level assistance. Members should use the chatbot and published guidance first, as these provide the quickest route for routine questions, account changes, verification, documents and certificates.
Chargeable assisted administration: work which goes beyond basic support is charged at £25 per hour, calculated in 15-minute increments and agreed before work begins. Examples include completing or rewriting a directory profile on a member’s behalf, preparing or posting printed certificates, repeated manual account changes, data entry and more than three staff-assisted password resets during a membership year. Printing and postage costs may also be charged where applicable.
What is not charged: NADJ does not charge members for reporting a genuine technical fault, making a complaint, raising a safeguarding concern, requesting a reasonable accessibility adjustment or correcting an error made by NADJ. These matters are passed to an appropriate member of the team.
Insurance claims for Professional and Gold members are handled by Sharrocks, not NADJ. Call 01795 580800 or email enquiries@sharrock-insurance.com.
Membership remains subject to the NADJ Membership Agreement, Code of Conduct, Constitution and, where applicable, full insurance policy terms. Fees may be reviewed annually to reflect insurance premiums, inflation and operating costs; members will be notified before changes take effect.
