Subscriptions control billing — how a customer pays and how often they are charged.
A subscription is the payment schedule, not the access itself.
What Subscriptions Are Used For
Charging customers automatically (monthly, yearly, etc.)
Managing payment methods
Handling renewals, failed payments, and cancellations
Pausing or resuming billing
Tracking next payment dates
Recording payment history
When Your Team Would Access/Edit Subscriptions
To check if a customer has an active payment plan
To update billing dates (e.g., shift a renewal date)
To pause, cancel, or reactivate a subscription
To fix failed payments or update card details
To confirm whether a customer has actually paid
To review renewal history and invoices
Think of Subscriptions as:
“How they pay.”
Memberships control access — what a person is allowed to see or do on the site once they become a member.
A membership is not a payment. It is the status or permission level a user receives.
What Memberships Are Used For
Granting access to restricted pages, resources, downloads, or content
Showing or hiding content based on membership level
Tracking whether someone is an active member
Manually adding or removing membership access
Viewing a member’s start date, end date, and status (active, paused, expired)
When Your Team Would Access/Edit Memberships
To check whether a user currently has access to a membership area
To manually grant membership access (e.g., goodwill, admin override)
To remove access (e.g., cancellation, admin decision)
To adjust membership start/end dates
To fix access issues (e.g., “I paid but can’t see the content”)
To review what content a membership plan includes
Think of Memberships as:
“What they can access.”
DJEP is the system your team uses to contact members and to manage staff activity. It does not control payments or website access — it handles communication, scheduling, and operational tasks.
