We recently attended the brand-new CRE8 event in Wakefield — a flagship gathering bringing DJs, producers, brands and creatives together for a full day of learning, networking and hands-on experiences. Hosted at Tileyard North, the event showcased the latest technology, live performances, workshops and industry panels, all designed to support and strengthen the UK DJ community.
One of the biggest highlights for us was reconnecting with fellow NADJ members from across the country. Events like this provide a rare opportunity to share ideas face-to-face, discuss the realities of modern DJing, and strengthen the professional relationships that support our industry all year round.
We also spent valuable time with leading manufacturers and innovators, including FBT, Paladin Innovations and Chauvet DJ, getting hands-on with new equipment and exploring developments that will influence future events. Having direct access to brands in a live environment is invaluable compared to simply browsing catalogues or online demonstrations.
It was equally great to connect with industry influencers such as Crossfader, who delivered workshops and demonstrations throughout the day, bringing their online expertise into a real-world setting.
A particularly special part of the trip was a VIP guided tour of the Mastermix music factory, kindly hosted by label manager Richard Lee. This behind-the-scenes experience offered a fascinating insight into how professional DJ music services are produced. During the visit, we also had the pleasure of meeting Amadeus — one half of the legendary Tidy Boys — which was an unexpected and memorable bonus.
Overall, CRE8 delivered inspiration, practical knowledge and meaningful connections in equal measure. We left with fresh ideas, new contacts and renewed enthusiasm for the year ahead — and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
