Attending PLASA Focus Leeds was a refreshing opportunity to explore the latest technologies shaping the professional events industry. While there were plenty of interesting concepts and conversations, two products truly stood out to me for their practical applications and future potential: the GreenBank Tempest by Greenwaves and the JTS SPT-1 R2 Wireless Audio System, showcased on the FBT Audio stand.
The GreenBank Tempest impressed not only with its robust performance but also with its eco-conscious design. This solar-rechargeable power station delivers 1900W continuous output with a 2500W peak, making it ideal for powering high-draw equipment like PA systems, lighting rigs, or AV gear – all without relying on noisy petrol generators. It charges via solar panels or mains and offers a sustainable power solution for outdoor weddings, rural events, or venues with limited access to sockets. As a wedding DJ working in a range of locations, this kind of portable, green power supply is a game-changer.
Equally impressive was the JTS SPT-1 R2 Wireless Audio System, which caught my attention for its ease of integration and reliability. Designed to transmit high-quality audio wirelessly between speakers, this system is perfect for venues with awkward layouts or where running long cables would be impractical. With dual UHF channels, true diversity reception, and up to 1441 selectable frequencies, it ensures clean, uninterrupted audio – even in challenging RF environments. It’s a compact yet professional solution for distributed sound at larger weddings or multi-room setups.
These two products feel highly relevant to mobile DJs and live event professionals who value flexibility, efficiency, and modern solutions that genuinely meet real-world challenges.
These are just two of many hundreds of products. As always, it was a worthwhile trip.
