Essex, UK – Former local branch representatives of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) have outlined proposals for the use of approximately £850 in locally raised community funds, with discussions now taking place in partnership with the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) CIC.
The proposal, submitted by former Essex branch Treasurer Stuart Pugh and Chairman Karl Semmence, aims to ensure the funds continue to benefit the local community while supporting music, DJ culture, and community engagement projects across Essex.
The funds, originally raised through local branch activities and events, are currently held within a local account pending agreement on their future use. Once a final decision is reached, the account is expected to be formally closed.
Proposed initiatives include monthly hybrid networking meetings for DJs and music professionals, combining both in-person and online participation to encourage collaboration, skills development, and community support within the DJ industry.
Additional proposals involve supporting existing music-focused charitable programmes and organisations, including projects connected to Firstsite and DMLab, through workshops, showcases, guest speakers, and educational activities linked to music and DJ culture. Discussions may also explore partnership opportunities with organisations involved in youth and holiday activity programmes.
A further suggestion includes organising a dedicated CIC member gathering and celebration event designed to strengthen community ties, celebrate DJ culture, and potentially raise additional funds for future local initiatives.
Wayne Davies, CEO of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) CIC, welcomed the collaborative approach and highlighted the potential for the funding to attract additional support through local authority grants or matched funding opportunities.
Speaking on behalf of the former local branch, Stuart Pugh and Karl Semmence said they were keen to ensure the money is used “in the best possible way” while respecting the intentions of those who originally helped raise the funds.
We look forward to bringing you more news as this develops.
The National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company working to support DJs, entertainers, and community-based initiatives throughout the UK.
