NADJ is celebrating the remarkable career of long-standing member Matthew Western, who has retired after 50 years as a DJ.
Based in Doncaster, Matthew operated Party Night Discos and spent five decades providing entertainment for celebrations across his local area. His retirement from DJing on 4 January 2026 brought an extraordinary chapter to a close. His NADJ membership will now conclude when his current term expires on 1 September.
Matthew has supported and championed NADJ over many years. Announcing his retirement from the Association, he described his membership as a privilege and reflected on his long-standing belief in the importance of professional representation for DJs.
Matthew said:
“It’s been a privilege to have been a member for so long. I was championing this from a long time ago. After 50 years DJing, the time is right to step away.”
Although Matthew admitted that he was leaving “with a heavy heart, and a little regret”, he also offered a very encouraging assessment of the Association’s development.
“I have been impressed with the direction that the Association is taking, and I will continue to recommend to DJs I know to become members.”
His comments carry particular weight after half a century working within the DJ industry. They also reflect the value of experienced members who have supported NADJ through different stages of its history.
NADJ rep. Wayne Davies said: “Reaching 50 years as a working DJ is a tremendous achievement. Matthew has been a loyal supporter of NADJ and an advocate for the Association over many years. We greatly appreciate his continued confidence in our direction and his willingness to recommend membership to other DJs.”
Everyone at NADJ thanks Matthew for his contribution to the industry, his support for the Association and the many celebrations delivered through Party Night Discos.
We wish him a happy, healthy and thoroughly well-earned retirement.
