One Practical Chart From Multiple Sources
The NADJ Chart has been developed in response to an increasingly fragmented music market. A track performing strongly on radio may not yet appear prominently on streaming charts, while music gaining momentum through Shazam, TikTok or specialist dance platforms may be missed by traditional rankings.
To provide a broader picture, the NADJ system considers every enabled source containing sufficiently recent and validated chart information. Positions are normalised so that rankings of different lengths can be compared fairly.
Tracks are then assessed using their median position and the consistency with which they appear across the contributing charts. No single provider determines the final NADJ ranking.
The platform can currently display information drawn from sources including:
- UK radio airplay
- Apple Music
- Spotify
- Amazon Music
- Shazam
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Deezer
- Beatport
- Traxsource Top Tracks
- Traxsource DJ Charts
- Last.fm
Individual source charts remain visibly separate, allowing DJs to examine the underlying trends rather than being presented with a single unexplained list.
Designed Around the Needs of Working DJs
The chart interface has been designed as a practical research and preparation tool. Each entry can include cover artwork, artist and title information, chart movement and direct links to relevant music services.
Green and red movement indicators show whether a track has climbed or fallen, while new and re-entry labels make significant changes immediately visible. Contextual FACT controls provide additional information without overcrowding the main chart display.
Where available, users can follow links to specialist DJ suppliers, music pools and streaming services to research or legitimately source a track. Download options also allow the charts to be exported in RSS, CSV and M3U formats.
Spotify and TIDAL playlist links can be included where corresponding playlists have been created, helping users move between chart research and private listening.
Mastermix Catalogue Integration
The NADJ Chart now incorporates a substantial directory of Mastermix releases, allowing appropriate tracks to be connected with the professional DJ albums on which they appear.
The initial catalogue contains 691 albums and 12,331 relevant track records from the DJ Beats Chart, DJ Beats, DJ Edits and Pro Disc ranges.
When a chart track is matched, its FACT panel can display linked, colour-coded album labels:
- Yellow: DJ Beats Chart
- Purple: DJ Beats
- Green: DJ Edits
- Blue: Pro Disc
Up to eight suitable album matches may be displayed, with newer releases prioritised. The catalogue is supplemented by an automated process that checks for more recent releases.
Genre Charts and Weekend Bangers
In addition to the main Top 40, the platform includes a broad collection of curated genre charts. These provide faster access to music for different audiences, event types and sections of a DJ set.
The collection covers 50 genre and era-based Top 10s, including established categories such as Motown, house and 1990s dance. Each chart includes supplier and research links alongside RSS, CSV and M3U download options.
A separate Weekend Bangers selection provides a regularly refreshed shortlist of current high-impact tracks suitable for weekend events and dancefloors.
Automatic Updates With Manual Safeguards
The NADJ Chart is configured to refresh enabled sources automatically. Chart information is validated before it is stored, helping to prevent security pages, incomplete responses or malformed data from replacing a previously successful chart.
Where a source does not offer reliable public data or an affordable API, authorised administrators can maintain its chart manually. This allows NADJ to preserve useful sources without relying entirely on expensive commercial data subscriptions.
The system also retains previous chart snapshots, enabling movement information to be calculated between updates.
Supporting Legitimate DJ Music
NADJ has no commercial relationship with, and receives no commission from, any linked music supplier, retailer or streaming service.
Specialist services such as Mastermix and professional DJ music pools supply music under terms intended for professional users. DJs must nevertheless ensure that they hold any additional copying, public-performance or other licences required for their particular use.
Consumer downloads from services such as Apple/iTunes or Amazon, and consumer streaming services including Spotify and TIDAL, are generally supplied for personal, non-commercial use. Links to these services are included for private listening, track identification and research and should not be treated as permission to use those services for public DJ performances.
NADJ encourages DJs to support artists, producers, labels and the wider music industry by obtaining music through legitimate, appropriately licensed professional sources and never using pirated music.
“DJs now discover music across dozens of different platforms, but very few of us have the time or budget to monitor every chart individually. The NADJ Chart brings those signals together into one useful resource while still allowing DJs to see where the information has come from.”
“This is not about allowing an algorithm to choose somebody’s set. A professional DJ still needs judgement, musical knowledge and an understanding of the audience in front of them. The chart is there to make research easier, highlight emerging records and help DJs source music responsibly.”
An Evolving Resource for the DJ Community
The NADJ Chart will continue to develop as reliable music-data sources become available. Future improvements may include expanded supplier matching, additional playlists, richer track information and further specialist charts.
The current platform already provides professional DJs with a single destination for chart monitoring, track research, catalogue discovery and playlist preparation without presenting any one company’s ranking as the complete picture.
